Pigment

Pigmentation is one of the most common concerns we see, and one of the most misunderstood. It’s rarely caused by just one thing, and what works beautifully for one person may not be the right approach for another. That’s why we never guess, we always begin with a thorough assessment of your skin before we recommend anything at all.

Pigmentation occurs when melanin, the pigment that gives your skin its colour, is produced unevenly. In Australia, where UV is relentless, this is particularly common. But sun isn’t the only trigger. Hormonal shifts during pregnancy or while taking certain medications can bring on melasma, a deeper, more complex form of pigmentation that needs a careful, layered approach. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can develop after acne, injury, or even overly aggressive treatments. And sometimes, it’s simply written into your genetics.

The right approach depends entirely on what’s driving your pigmentation, how deep it sits, and what your skin can tolerate. During your consultation, we’ll talk through the contributing factors and discuss which combination of treatments may be most suitable, whether that’s laser therapy, medical-grade peels, LED, skin needling with growth factors, or dermaplaning.

One thing we’ll always be upfront about: pigmentation takes patience. There’s no single treatment that erases it overnight, and consistent sun protection is non-negotiable. We’d rather give you a realistic plan that works than a promise that doesn’t.
